Interview: Jane-Anne Hobbs Shares Her Favourite Foods and Recipes with Eat Out

Scrumptious Food for Family and FriendsEat Out recently spoke to Jane-Anne Hobbs, author of Scrumptious: Food for Family and Friends, and found out some of her favourite foods and go-to meals when entertaining.

Hobbs also revealed her biggest kitchen disaster and shared her favourite local restaurants. She linked to several of her recipes in the interview so you can recreate them at home:

Who or what inspires you?

I am continuously inspired by old cookbooks, whether these are centuries-old manuscripts, wonderful vintage recipe books from the 1930s and ‘40s, or my large collection of junk-shop finds from the 1960s and ‘70s. I have a particular interest in heritage recipes, those tried-and-tested favourites that have been passed down in the family.

Food blogger, Ishay Govender, got her husband and brother to try the Chicken a la Bourride recipe from Scrumptious. Find out how these amateur cooks fared:

A few weeks ago, my husband and brother prepared a dish from cookbook writer, former journalist, food blogger and friend, Jane-Anne Hobbs’ new cookery book, Scrumptious. Chicken a la Bourride is a dish based on a French fish stew, but the tangy tomato base is made more complex, and far more interesting with the addition of a creamy home-made aioli- garlic mayonnaise.
